Stink’n Think’n

When I was a student in chiropractic college, we had a guest speaker that came to our campus several times to talk to us and inspire us.  One of his repeated phrases to us was about stink’n think’n. He said that all of us have from time-to-time thoughts that are heavy with doubts about our abilities.  Thoughts that question what we can achieve or what we are capable of.  This self-doubt interferes with our ability to do the work necessary to achieve these goals and erodes future chances to achieve more for ourselves.  He referred to this thinking as “stink’n think’n.”

There are those of you who may have failed the MBLEx once, twice maybe even three times or more by this point.  Because of this you may have thoughts that tell you, “I can not do this.”  This is impossible.”  I am not smart enough.”   I get it, failing this test is putting your dreams of becoming a massage therapist at risk.  Failing this test is embarrassing to you.  You may feel sad, you may feel shame and you definitely feel disappointment.  I get it.

Let me tell you one thing that I want each of you to not only hear but to feel, that is simply stink’n think’n at work in your mind.  You must work to get rid of the stink’n think’n.  If you think about something long enough or hard enough it will soon become reality.  This works with negative, and it also works with positive.  You have to decide which you want to happen, the positive or the negative outcome.  Get rid of that stink’n think’n and get to work on reaching your goal.  The good stuff rarely comes easy and if you have to work twice as hard to get there it will taste twice as sweet once you do.
